It’s not as if our lives are divided simply into light and dark. There’s shadowy middle ground. Recognizing and understanding the shadows is what a healthy intelligence does. And to acquire a healthy intelligence takes a certain amount of time and effort. I don’t think you have a particularly dark character.

Thanks for sharing Murakami, Arielle. And I love that first shot from Hangzhou.

Am I missing text between the photos, because I only see the intro paragraph, but what a great paragraph it is. I want to read more as you expand on this thought.

OK, so I didn’t miss anything. What you said is so true though–everything is so black and white, and people are so polarized these days; there’s no room for discussion or respectable debate. It’s all in that gray area, the shadows, where intelligent minds and cooler heads prevail.

Sometimes pictures give a better description and feel of a place than words can. I enjoyed seeing your pictures, and the Murakami quote was definitely a nice touch at the beginning. 😊 Hope you’re having lots of fun in China!

I love skyscrapers and especially them by the water! Too bad we don’t have any in Lodz hehe.
