This year has been quite a whirlwind, honestly. I went to three different continents! (For some that’s nothing, but it’s a lot for me!) I do sort of wish I had spent more time exploring Spain, because I was living there and there are sooo many “must-sees” that I never went to. I also wish I had gone to Morocco, because it was so close to Murcia!
But I think that in 2018, I’ve really cemented a new travel philosophy (one that was taking shape as I made more connections across Europe these past three years) which is that I would rather travel for a specific reason, like to visit a friend or go to an event, rather than trying to go to as many places as possible just to tick them off a list. These past three years I’ve spent a lot of money and energy traveling, and I’m a point where I want to focus more on the experiences than the bucket list. I’m never going to be a travel blogger with the time and resources to go everywhere, so I’m just going to relax and enjoy what I can, while I can.

“I would rather travel for a specific reason, like to visit a friend or go to an event, rather than trying to go to as many places as possible just to tick them off a list”… this statement resonates with me so much! It’s something that I learned starting last summer — spending quality time in a place, getting to truly know the culture, language, and people there, is so much more fulfilling than cramming in locations. Wishing you all the best travels in 2019!
